Car accident kills Miss Teen runner-up

THE first runner-up in this year’s Miss Teen CNMI pageant died when the vehicle she was driving was struck by a truck yesterday afternoon on Middle Road in Gualo Rai near Town & Country restaurant.
Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro said Vinae Teofilia Sablan Deleon Guerrero, 16 and a junior at Marianas High School, was pronounced dead at the Commonwealth Health Center at 3:16 p.m.
Ogumoro said DPS had yet to release an official report as the incident was still under investigation.
The collision was reported to the police at 2:48 p.m. but information as to the cause of the crash and where the victim was headed was still unknown.
The victim was driving a white Honda Civic when a truck belonging to Pacific Drilling Limited struck her vehicle.
The victim’s car was totally wrecked.
The truck was impounded by DPS but there was no information as to whether the driver was placed under arrest.
The driver of the truck was not injured and was on his way to the Midpac office when the accident happened.
