Veterinarian to write about animal care

By Emmanuel T. Erediano
Variety News Staff

THE apparent lack of understanding among many members of the community about veterinary care may turn Saipan’s private veterinarian into a writer.
Dr. Edgar Tudor, owner of Paradise Island Animal Clinic, said he will no longer comment about the government’s animal clinic in As Perdido, adding that he “might write a series of articles on modern veterinary care.”
He said he will not leave the island.
According to Tudor, the “total lack of understanding that exists in the community relative to veterinary medicine which is especially true for the mainland Americans is at least giving me a direction to head in when dealing with folks here.”
Tudor said he likes and respects Department of Lands and Natural Resources Secretary Ignacio T. Dela Cruz, who is also a veterinarian, despite his disagreement with some of DLNR’s decisions.
DLNR runs the As Perdido clinic.
Tudor said he has come to realize that “complaining or explaining is always misinterpreted and is used against you,” citing the many letters to the editor that came out about the issue.
“ I’ve decided to return to my original and very trusted attitude toward this sort of thing...don’t criticize, condemn or complain...or explain,” Tudor said, adding that feels sorry for people who are much more interested in “justification than they are in the truth.”
