Sharks look for payback against Royals

By Kyle Terwilliger
Variety News Staff

Thursday saw the Notre Dame Royals defeat the St. John’s Knights in straight sets, but the Royals would have to wait two days before they knew who they would be taking on in the IIAAG Boy’s Volleyball Championship game on Tuesday, May 22.
Due to the power outage the George Washington, Simon Sanchez game was postponed until Saturday evening, and the game was well worth the wait as the Simon Sanchez Sharks barely squeezed past the George Washington Geckos in three sets winning 25-17, 25-27, and 15-10.
Dioor Jones would play a huge part in the Sharks win as he has done all season as the Sharks had to fight back in the third set after watching the second set slip through their fingers and fall to the Geckos.
The Geckos would have the momentum in the third set and would be up 8-4.
Dioor Jones would lead the comeback as the Sharks won 15-10. The Sharks now move on to face the Notre Dame Royals for the Championship.
The Royals are no strangers to the Sharks as Notre Dame handed the Sharks their only loss of the season.
The Royals finished the season with two losses, one coming at the hands of the George Washington Geckos who will now take on the St. John’s Knights for third place on Tuesday at the University of Guam field house.
The Sharks will go in hungry looking for their revenge and to become the IIAAG Boy’s Volleyball Champions but the Royals are a formidable opponent who know the Sharks very well. The game is sure to be one of the best volleyball games this year.
