With the IIAAG Boy’s Volleyball ending on Tuesday all eyes will be on Girl’s Soccer as they move into their semi-final matches on Thursday, May 24 at GFA Harmon Fields.
IIAAG Girl’s Soccer was in action this weekend to determine just who was going to be facing off on Thursday.
Four games were decided on Saturday evening. The Simon Sanchez Sharks would follow suit of their Boy’s Volleyball team and would move past the Academy Of Our Lady Guam Cougars in a close game as they won 1 – 0. The Sharks advanced to face the winner of the Southern High, John F. Kennedy game.
The Dolphins would be led by Maria Bais who scored two goals as the Dolphins advanced to 3 – 1 over the Islanders. The Dolphins’ Tasi Mafnas would add the third goal in the win. Islanders’ Charmaine Garcia would score the only run for the Islanders in the loss. In the other games the Notre Dame Royals would take on the St. John’s Knights.
The Royals would prove to be too tough for the Knights as they easily advanced winning 8-0. The Royals were led by Victoria Shimizu, Angelica Perez, and Erica Quichocho who all scored two goals a piece.
The Royals would make quick work of the Knights as they had the lead at halftime already up 5-0. In the fourth game of the day the George Washington Geckos squeaked by the Harvest Christian Academy Eagels 1-0.
Geckos’ Amy Atkinson scored the only goal for the Geckos in the win. With all four games done the semi-finals are now set for Thursday as the George Washington Geckos take on the Notre Dame Royals, and the Southern High Dolphins taking on the Simon Sanchez Sharks.
The Geckos were 5-4-3 during the regular season as they take on the Royals who were 11-0-1 during the regular season. In the second game the Dolphins, who were 4-3-4 during the regular season take on the only Taga Division team in the Simon Sanchez Sharks who went 9-1-1 on the regular season.
