The April visitor arrivals
this year posted a slight decrease with 0.39 percent decrease compared
to the same month last year.
Based on the arrival statistics of the Palau Visitors Authority there
were 6,661 tourists in April compared to the 6, 687 arrivals April of
2006.
Tourist arrivals from Taiwan is the biggest market with 2,084 visitors
, with the visitors from Japan in second with 1,909 while the Korean market
continued to increase with 1,196.
Compared to April last years arrivals from Taiwan however dipped
by a little over 15 percent , Japan market increased by 9.93 percent and
the Korean market rising by 47.90 percent.
Tourists from the United States is at no. 4 with 534 visitors; no. 5 are
tourists from the Philippines, 225; Guam , 150 and Micronesia, 104.
The statistics also said that for the first four months of the year, there
were 30,647 visitors, a four percent increase compared to the first four
months of 2006.
The Japan market continued to dominate the market during the first four
months of the year, with 11, 574 arrivals.
The Taiwan market posted a 8,488 visitors and the Korean market maintains
its place in the top three with 4,579 tourists.
