completely outplayed Ngerbeched, 17-1, in Game Four of the best-of-five
semifinals last Wednesday night making its championship debut in the PML
as a team.
PCC joined the league last year and finished fifth. Its acquisition of
five of the members of the back-to-back champion Koror made the big difference
as PCC won the pennant in its first playoff season losing only one game
to Kayangel after 24 games.
Kayangel, however, is on the brink of elimination in its semifinal duel
with Airai, which is leading the best-of-five series at 2-1.
Depending on the weather condition, the Aces could wrap up the series
tonight at the Asahi Field.
PCC took Game One, 5-3, and Game Two, 6-4, before Ngerbeched fought back
with a narrow 10-9 victory in Game Three on May 10.
PCC Team Manager Todd Ngiramengior said they have experimented by rotating
his players especially at the mound.
He said that he wanted to have enough pitchers to prepare for the best-of-seven
championship series.
But in Game Four, he said they have adjusted well.
PCC went into early demolition off Ngerbeched, scoring five in the first
four in the second, for a 9-0 lead then never looked back.
Reigning MVP Sureor Ngirailemesang pitched a complete game and allowed
only a run on a fielders error in the bottom of the eighth inning.
"It was a game we cannot afford to lose because I dont want
these young players to be under pressure," he said.
Ngiramengior said that any of the two other teams, Kayangel and Airai,
is strong but he is confident that PCC could win the long series.
Practice, he said, is what his team all about.
"Ill be disappointed if we dont win this one," said
Ngiramengior, who was a part of champion team Koror as assistant to Uchel
Sechewas in 2005.
