TINIAN kept its title defence alive, while All Out moved into the next round of the 2007 Inter-government Basketball League after clobbering separate foes last Thursday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
All Out eliminated Customs, 99-75, to gain a quarterfinals entry, while Tinian pounded the Legislature, 123-61.
After a deadlock at the end of the first quarter, All Out took control of the game in the second period outscoring Customs, 26-19, for a 42-35 lead.
All Out increased the lead to 12, 70-58, entering the final canto, as Abong Camacho drilled 11 of his 23 points in the third quarter.
Customs failed to mount a comeback in the fourth period, as All Out held them to their second lowest output in the game with 17. All Out had their biggest production in the final canto with 29 markers.
Three other players scored in double figures for All Out with Kevin Guerrero and Jesse Stole hitting 18 and 17 points, respectively, and John Aguon adding 10.
Jason Sablan paced Customs with 19 points.
All Out’s foe in the quarterfinals will be the winner of the Office of the Public Auditor-Department of Corrections tiff.
OPA and Corrections collide tonight in the second game at 8 p.m.
Tinian’s next assignment will be the victor of the match between the Ports Police and Luta, who will also meet tonight in the first game at 6:30 p.m.
Tinian, which won over the DPS Enforces in last year’s finals, advanced to the next round and boosted its bid for back-to-back titles after drawing another big game from hotshot John Santos.
Santos drilled 29 points to lift Tinian to a 62-point win. Peter Manglona and Jess Manibusan chipped in 23 and 21 markers, respectively for Tinian. Anthony Borja added 15 and Ian Cruz contributed 12.
Manibusan led Tinian’s explosive start scoring 11 points in the first quarter, which ended with Tinian up by 20, 35-15.
The Lawmakers never recovered from thereon, as Manibusan, Santos, Borja, Manglona and Cruz teamed up in running Tinian’s well-oiled offense.
Zach Diaz led the Lawmakers’ losing cause nailing 21 points.
