A PUBLIC School System employee on Rota who had several convictions in the past has been arrested for raping a 16-year-old student.
James Norita Kintaro, 44, who is employed as a PSS van driver, was arrested on Monday at 4:35 p.m. for sexual assault in the first degree, sexual assault in the second degree, assault and battery and assault charges.
Kintaro was brought to Superior Court for a bail hearing yesterday morning.
Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona imposed a cash bail of $61,500.
Kintaro, who has been employed at PSS for 10 years, was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing.
The affidavit submitted in court stated that the incident was reported to police on May 8 although it happened in mid-April.
The affidavit stated that Kintaro picked the victim up at Rota High School and drove her to a house next to a power plant.
According to the affidavit, Kintaro offered the victim marijuana but she refused.
Kintaro got out of the PSS van and went to the house to see if the door was open.
Afterward, the victim got out of the van and also went inside the house.
The affidavit stated that Kintaro grabbed the victim and placed her on a table.
The victim tried to get up but failed as Kintaro was too strong for her, the affidavit stated.
Kintaro, according to the affidavit, succeeded in abusing the victim who ran to the van to get her bag before fleeing the area.
The affidavit stated that Kintaro also offered another minor marijuana and asked her to have sex with him while in the PSS van.
The minor refused to have sex with Kintaro but agreed to smoke the marijuana with him, the affidavit stated.
Court documents stated that Kintaro was convicted of assault and battery and criminal mischief in 1999 and assault and battery in 2006.
He was acquitted by a Superior Court jury of aggravated assault and battery in 1991.
