FOUR very young ladies have a submitted applications for this year’s Little Miss Marianas pageant.
They are Kayla Borja, Kimberly Camacho, Annabel Piyanizo and Shauna Mae Flores and their ages range from 8 to 10.
According to Stellar Marianas president Laila Y. Boyer, the organization is still accepting applications.
“We have four candidates so far and we’re still accepting applications for those who want to participate in this year’s Little Miss Marianas Pageant,” Boyer said, adding that the deadline for the submission of applications will be on Saturday, May 26, during the first rehearsal of the candidates at Gold’s Gym in Chinatown starting at 1 p.m.
According to Neda Camacho, the candidates committee chairwoman, a lineup of activities for the contestants is scheduled to take place beginning this month.
Last Saturday, two of the candidates visited the Saipan Zoo where they saw Daphne, the baby goat that was separated from his sibling Derby. The two animals were reunited on Monday.
This Saturday, they are scheduled to meet with Margaret Villagomez, the lt. governor’s wife, in a traditional merienda.
“They will also make public appearances, hold press conferences, have sleep-over, and join the July 4th parade as well as the carnival at the Liberation festivities,” Camacho said.
Last year, eight girls participated in the pageant.
Stellar Marianas is a nonprofit organization that organizes the annual Miss CNMI Universe, Miss Teen Marianas and the Little Miss Marianas pageants.
The third annual Little Miss Marianas pageant is slated for July 14 and will held at the Hotel Nikko amphitheater, from 6 to 10 p.m.
The candidates will be competing in the fantasy costume, talent, evening gown and question-and-answer categories.
This year’s theme is “The Flowers of the Marianas.”
“We will be celebrating the beauty and variety of flowers that we have here on island. This is our third pageant, and every year it becomes better,” Boyer said, adding that the community can expect an even more entertaining and exciting program this year.
Besides the traditional farewell walk of 2006 Little Miss Marianas Opal Northen, she will perform a special number on pageant night.
Application forms can be picked up at the Younis Art Studio office in Garapan or you may contact Camacho at 322-0309/236-9873 or e-mail camacho698@gmail.com for more information.
