Alien arrested for illegal reentry

By Gina Tabonares
Variety News Staff

A MAN was arrested and charged with attempted illegal reentry after a federal officer discovered that the alien has been removed from Chicago and was banned to enter the U.S. for five years.
Dongjun You, 37, arrived at the Guam International Airport on March 21 from Seoul, Korea via a Korean Airlines flight.
You presented a valid, unexpired Korean passport and applied under the Guam Visa Waiver Program as a visitor for business.
He, however, stated in the Guam Visa Waiver Form that he was never deported from the United States within the last five years.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection Enforcement Officer Brent Ada Tablan, You was referred to secondary inspection due to a one-day lookout match for a previous record at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago where the alien was removed.
Computer system checks revealed that You was placed in expedited removal proceedings at Illinois airport on Oct. 7, 2002 when he overstayed as a transit passenger at Chicago.
He was charged with violating the Immigration and Nationality Act for willful misrepresentation of material fact, and was barred from entering the U.S. for a period of five years after the date of removal.
During interrogation, You stated that he does not possess a valid unexpired U.S. visa and he was visiting Guam for a three-day business trip.
He acknowledged that he was previously removed from Chicago in Oct. 2002 and that he had recruited foreign students to attend private schools in the U.S. as F-1 students.
