Tropical depression in Yap

By Bernadette H. Carreon
Horizon news staff

Palau is experiencing isolated rain showers due to the tropical depression near Yap.
The National Weather Bureau Service said yesterday that the tropical depression was monitored near Yap, 8.7 North and 142.4 East close to Woleai at the outer island of Yap.
The weather service earlier said rainfall is expected to normalize this month compared to the other months.
Earlier Remengesau asked the public to conserve water in preparation of the El Nino Phenomenon this year.
Guam, Palau, Saipan and Federated States of Micronesia will be experiencing an El Nino Phenomenon starting February up to August, according to the National Weather Service in Guam.
He said conservation efforts should begin early because Palau’s water reservoir may not accommodate the water needs of the entire country during the dry season.
