Galarse leads Vegas to beat AK; Shirley’s edges Islander

BRIAN Natividad and Leo Galarse sizzled with 28 and 25 points respectively to lead Saipan Vegas to an 88-76 win over AK Toyota in the Open Division of the UFO-IT&E Basketball League at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym on Sunday.

Natividad blasted six three-pointers while Galarse invested in inside attacks to give their team a strong lead.

Natividad outscored everyone and was named the RNV Villaroyal Best Player of the Game.

Galarse’s three consecutive makes in the first quarter handed Vegas a safe lead early in the game.

Natividad’s three-pointer stretched the lead with Galarse dominating the inside and earning him free throws as well.

Castillo and Brennan helped AK keep pace in the first half, delivering five and nine points respectively. Castillo provided the opening salvo with a three-point shot to narrow the gap in the first quarter.

Bisona shared a piece of the action in the third canto, delivering a total of 14 points.

Deleon Guerrero, who had a good start early in the game, scored 10 points to help Vegas maintain its lead all the way to the final buzzer.

Shirley’s 105, Islander 102

On Saturday, Ed Diaz was dominant in the second quarter then fired three-pointers in the final canto to help Shirley’s surge to a 105-102 victory over Islander Rent A Car.

With Pastana scattering nine behind-the-arc shots, the Islanders seemed to be on the verge of victory. Pastana scored 38 points to give Shirley’s a hard time.

But Pelisamen and Mendiola contributed 23 and 15 points respectively to help Shirley’s seal the deal.
