OPINION | Abuse of power in government

DEMOCRACY or Republic? More like my way or the highway. The fact is, 800,000 federal employees are not getting paid under President Trump. It’s coconut crazy, insane and a bad decision.

Let’s define and figure out both party establishments’ messages today for the life of us U.S. voters because it’s complicated, crafty and crazy now.

The key difference between a democracy and a republic lies in the limits placed on government by law.

This has implication for minority rights. Both forms of government tend to use representational system: i.e., citizens vote to elect politicians to represent their interests and form their government.

In a republic, a constitution protects certain unalienable rights that cannot be taken away by the government even by a majority of voters.

In a “pure democracy,” the majority is not restrained and can impose its will on the minority.

Most modern nations, including the United States, are democratic republics with a constitution which can be amended by a popularly elected government.

It’s not that confusing or crazy if you understand English. We all know “authoritarianism” is what is taking place today in every government.

We can call it presidential executive power or martial law to threaten to get what you want, but it’s why we have a U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House to balance the power of our government today.

As a matter of fact, I hate the word “authoritarianism” because it connotes crafty and greedy politicians, corporations or government organizations and their partners.

Both political parties are corrupt today in my own opinion because they can impose their power on families especially through the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act to steal a loved one’s assets.

Corruption is when politicians and corporations draft legislation like the HIPPA to abuse hospital patients and their families.

No different from the immigration contractors who abuse  alien kids in U.S. immigration custody. Some kids have died because of U.S. immigration enforcement.

I mean what’s the point of laws when they separate families including those in the hospital? The bottom line is, it’s authoritarianism.

In the CNMI, the local GOP went ahead and passed their casino law which the CNMI people had rejected twice, but if you’re the majority party like the GOP you can shut down the government.

It’s as simple as that people. U.S. families are the victims as well as alien kids who are separated from their families seeking asylum in the U.S.

This is why we have congressional oversight in our U.S. government so we can monitor and enforce our state and federal laws today folks.

It’s the U.S. journalists who are the U.S. government’s oversight today because politicians prefer to favor corporations and organizations who give them campaign money.

As an American, I fight to protect my rights. It is my responsibility and obligation to protect my family assets.

My Cuban friend Jose told me that I have been very patient while the government is stealing  my family assets by holding my wife against my will and her will.

This is the craziness I am talking about folks. Why impose your power on American families today? As for federal employees, they need their paycheck to pay their monthly bills. This shutdown is insane and crazy and it’s hurting families.

What more can the GOP impose on our CNMI families? Like how they are holding land compensation for decades now. So inconsiderate.

The U.S.-China trade war cease-fire   will expire soon and I hope this cancer called “authoritarianism” doesn’t create more conflicts and chaos in other countries and jurisdictions like Guam or the CNMI.

The United States has arrested a Chinese and a Russian, and China and Russia are not happy, and now Americans are still coping with a federal government shutdown.

The latest news is that Russia has arrested an American citizen. The U.S. State Department has warned U.S. citizens not to travel to China where they can be arrested like what happened to the American citizen in Russia.

See, when CNMI lawmakers and their Chinese partners dug up our ancestors’ graves for the casino, you got three typhoons that have crippled the CNMI government. Real karma.

Some may disagree with me but if you look around today, you can still see the total damage to the CNMI. Can CNMI lawmakers do a better job? We will find out soon.

Is it a warning to humanity, these destructive events? More may come even though the CNMI is still in  recovery mode.

It’s for me to report and for you all to ponder: what is moral or ethical?

In closing, my anger and frustration with our governments is real. I think we should start being honest to our people and community and make a commitment to them.

We must end human suffering and misery that  we see today before the GOP and Trump start a new cold war.

We must look out for our families.
