The importance of civic action and public service

EVERYONE knows the famous quote from John F. Kennedy: “And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.”

The focus of public administration lies in providing services to the public, promoting sustainable economic growth and social development, facilitating infrastructure development, protecting the environment, promoting public-private partnership, managing development programs and maintaining a legal framework for development and most importantly human resources to meet the demands of economic development.

The administration of Ralph Torres and Victor Hocog has provided financial management capacities in order to ensure a civil service that is responsive to the needs of the people.

I left Saipan a year ago, and I am now amazed and inspired to see how fast these islands have developed. I feel happy and proud. I know that there are many job opportunities for myself and our people. I can see our economy booming, generating revenues for our islands and their people. These islands are organized and beautiful and it’s a reflection of this administration. It has solution-driven administrators and possesses leadership material.

This is proven leadership. Our governor should continue to lead our people to have much better and comfortable lives.

This administration has met the needs of the people. The governor is doing the right thing and doing things right. There is effective and efficient government operation, providing the best services for the general public.

The public is entitled to honest government, free from corruption, and our leaders have proven to be clean and free from any conflict with political elites and influences that manipulate administrative leadership. The governor is a humble man and is committed to improve the lives of our people. His leadership is all about performance, government savings, social and economic development and job opportunities and human resources.

This administration is doing the right thing and I will continue to ask my families and friends to support this team as the CNMI moves forward.

This coming November, remember the incoming generation, our children who are our precious resources. We as parents must not fail them and must do whatever it takes to secure their future.

My contribution is to make sure my vote counts.

Sincerely,

JOAQUIN ULLOA PALACIOS
