Judge finds probable cause in stabbing, robbery cases

SUPERIOR Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo found probable cause to charge the two suspects in separate stabbing and robbery incidents.

Police said Michael Salesy Ilo Gioda, 24, attacked and stabbed a 30-year-old man in As Lito. He was charged with aggravated assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace.

Hilario Angui, 34, was arrested at his residence for robbing a man who gave him a ride in Chalan Kanoa, police said, adding that they also discovered drugs and drug paraphernalia in his car.

Angui was charged with robbery, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

At the preliminary hearing on Wednesday morning, Gioda was represented by Assistant Public Defender Nancy Dominski while Angui was represented by Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig. Assistant Attorney General Robert Charles Lee appeared for the government.

Both defendants will appear before Presiding Judge Robert Naraja on Dec. 11 at 9 a.m.

According to police Gioda has cooperated and confessed to the crime. Gioda told police that he stabbed the victim because he was feeling pain. He said his sister had passed away.
