Hyatt donates toys to Karidat

THE Hyatt Regency Saipan presented more than 80 toys to Karidat that were collected through the “Toys for Tots” program initiated by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

Hyatt participated in the program, which was introduced in the CNMI this year by the Saipan Young Professionals.

Ty Pauling, Hyatt food and beverage director, said even before “Toys for Tots,” the hotel and Karidat had been partners for more than 10 years.

“Karidat did a fantastic job in reaching out to families in need and children in need. The Marine Corps is happy to supplement that through Karidat and other organizations that serve underprivileged individuals within the CNMI,” Pauling said.

Lauri Ogumoro, Karidat executive director, said the gifts will go to children who have been in the shelter throughout the year. “We will give them to the mothers and they will distribute them to their children.”

According to Pauling, the “Toys for Tots” program received tremendous support from the community, especially at the Hyatt.

“Our employees and guests donated toys for the program. One of our guests came here with two bags of toys,” Pauling said.

Overall, the Hyatt collected 130 gifts. “Most of them were distributed to the Karidat while the other toys will go to the Marine Corps which will distributed them to various organizations,” Pauling added.
