House accepts Senate amendments to funding measure

THE House of Representatives on Wednesday approved the Senate amendments to House Bill 20-129 which aims to address the concerns of the Settlement Fund trustee regarding the funding source of payments to retirees.

All 19 members present voted for the bill as amended by the Senate. Introduced by Rep. Frank Dela Cruz, the measure now goes to the governor.

In a related story, the Senate on Thursday passed House Bill 20-145 which will appropriate $22 million for the payment of the restored 25 percent of the Settlement Fund class members’ full benefits as well as a bonus for all retirees.

H.B. 20-145 was introduced by Speaker Ralph Demapan and now goes to the governor’s desk.
