‘Paskong Pinoy’ this Sunday at Marianas Business Plaza

ALL is set for the United Filipino Organization’s “Paskong Pinoy 2017” this Sunday at Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe.

UFO president Marlon Regaton said gifts will be given to the first 100 children, 10 years old and under, who attend the program.

The gifts will be handed out by UFO volunteers dressed as Santa Grandpa and Santa Grandma, he added.

The registration for gift-giving will start at 1 p.m.

The morning program, which starts at 10 a.m., will feature two popular local bands on Saipan. Food and holiday season merchandise will also be available from participating vendors.

Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang and Honorary Philippine Consul to the CNMI Eli Arago have been invited to lead the opening of the program in the afternoon.

Regaton said they will have non-stop Christmas music and entertainment featuring choral groups from various schools, the Saipan Music and Dance Studio, 2911 Dance Group, and the Batang Pinoy Choir.

Performing are the Cornerstone Youth Group, Uncle Ben’s Studio, MHS Filipino Club, Karate Club, Kristo Rai Children’s Choir, Emperador Band, the Santiago Siblings, the Tubera Siblings, students from Northern Marianas International School, Green Meadow School, Golden Harvest International, Oleai Elementary School, and Koblerville Elementary School.

As for the Christmas-lantern contest, the deadline for submission of entries has been extended from Dec. 11 to Dec. 15 or today, Friday.

All entries must be in for judging by 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17, at the event venue stage.

First prize is $150; second, $100; and third, $75. All participants will also receive a certificate of participation. The non-refundable registration fee is $10.

Also performing on Sunday are six participants in the recently held 2017 Ultimate Drag Queen.

“We have lots of other surprises — and ballroom dancing,” Regaton said.

This year’s celebration will conclude with a game of chance, “Kwarta o Kahon” — Cash or Box.

Those who buy raffle tickets will have a chance to play the game and win $500, Regaton said.

“We’d like to invite the public to come, enjoy the program and share the holiday season spirit with one another,” he added.

This year’s major sponsor is IT&E.
