Philippine contestant in Asian Super Model event named ‘Most Photogenic’

KLEA Pineda, a contestant in the recently held 11th Asian Super Model Contest, may not have won the crown, but she did win the hearts of many members of the audience who watched the finals night at Imperial Palace on Saturday.

Pineda, 18, vied with 26 other young models and was the lone representative of the Philippines. She won the Most Photogenic Award.

In Manila, Pineda is an actress and an exclusive talent of GMA-7, one of the two major networks in the Philippines.

“It was really heartwarming to see the support of my fellow Filipinos here,” she said in an interview. “It’s my first time to take part in an international competition.”

She added, “I didn’t win, but it’s OK. What I am trying to get is experience — how to compete with other contestants from different countries and what it feels like to be in an international competition.”

Pineda left for the Philippines Sunday morning. She said she will be training for the Miss Philippines pageant.

GMA-7 talent manager Vic Del Rosario said they received an invitation from China Bentley, organizer of the Asian Super Model Contest, and were asked to send Philippine representatives.

“We chose Klea and [fellow actress and model] Koreen Medina because they have the height, good posture, and Filipina beauty. They were perfect to represent the Philippines,” he said.

Medina, however, was unable to travel because she lost her passport.
