The funding drive started immediately after Thanksgiving and ended on Dec. 23, 2017.

Gillespie said Joeten Enterprises has been very gracious for continuing to host the Red Kettle drive for 12 years now.

The Saipan Stevedore Company, Saipan Shipping Company and PHI Pharmacy donated $6,000 in vouchers, he added.

“This is a regional record for Micronesia,” Gillespie said, referring to the donations they collected.

He likewise thanked the I Love Saipan store for displaying counter kettles and donating food for the Salvation Army’s soup kitchen.

“We really appreciate our donors,” he said, adding that they collected over $8,000 during the holiday season.

The Salvation Army’s programs include the distribution of meals to home-bound recipients and those with the homeless feeding program.
