Rep. Edwin Aldan upbeat about Tinian investment plan

TINIAN — Rep. Edwin Aldan said Tim Chen, principal owner of Tinian Entertainment Corp., and other investors met with the island’s leadership last week to discuss their plans to reopen the Tinian Dynasty.

Aldan said Chen is also interested in operating an inter-island flight service in the CNMI.

Chen is a co-owner of Air Micronesia, Aldan added.

“We’re very optimistic after their presentation and are looking forward to the implementation of their projects,” he said. “These will help improve the economy of our island and additional flight services for the region are also good as they may reduce airfare.”

He said if things go right, the inaugural flight for Tinian will be scheduled for April.

In a separate interview last week, Chen said the $75 million fine imposed on Tinian Dynasty by the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network or FinCen is holding back his plans to reopen the hotel-casino.

Chen chartered a flight from Hong Kong to Tinian on Friday last week to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Tinian International Airport.
