Joaquin S. Torres burial set for March 21

THE remains of Joaquin S. Torres will be laid to rest on Wednesday, March 21.

The daily Eucharistic celebration offered at Kristo Rai Parish Church at 6 p.m. will conclude on Tuesday, March 20.

On the following day, church service will begin at 8 a.m. at the Kristo Rai Parish and will be followed by a rosary. The Mass of Christian burial will start at 10 a.m.

“In his new life, Jack is remembered by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, Guam and abroad,” according to former Rep. William S. Torres, a younger brother of Joaquin S. Torres.

A member of the 1976 CNMI Constitutional Convention, Joaquin S. Torres is survived by his wife Dianne Verdejo-Torres, children Joseph Oldham Torres, Neil Howard Torres and Suzanne Marie Torres-Pangilinan.

His siblings and in-laws are Juan S. Torres and Janet F. Torres, Maria T. Persson and Jon G. Persson, the late Elizabeth S. Torres-Untalan and Pedro T. Untalan, Ray S. Torres and Lilian Wong, William S. Torres and Priscilla M. Torres.

Joaquin S. Torres, 70, died on March 12, 2018 in Hawaii aftyer a lingering illness.

A former Tan Holdings executive, he held many positions in the Trust Territory and commonwealth governments and served as chairman of the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. advisory board.
