RB welcomes support from Democrats but will run as independent

RAMON “RB” Camacho clarified on Thursday that he did not announce that he was willing to run as a Democrat if the party would nominate him.

But he said if the Democrats  have no candidate for Saipan mayor, then he would humbly seek their support.

He said he is running as an Independent candidate who is “for progressive leadership, one that…sets the standards for how  an elected official should carry out and perform his duty as a public servant.”

He is also for a “robust community and business-friendly municipal governance, policy and practice.”

He added, “We will work closely in partnership with non-government and government agencies in [creating] welcoming public spaces…that builds a stronger community.”

If elected, he said, he would offer “professional services that [will] provide an enhanced sense of place, by highlighting the many natural and historic assets within” the villages.

According to Camacho, this partnership involves stakeholders including landowners, lessees of land, commercial tenants, residents, policymakers, government officials, partner organizations and the general public.

“We will forge public-private partnerships that work productively, beneficially and cooperatively in improving and maintaining the physical appearance and aesthetics of our public rights of way while maintaining open spaces and promoting public parks,” Camacho said.
