McDonald’s donates $6K for Liberation festivities

THE 2018 Liberation Committee on Friday received a title sponsor donation from McDonald’s Saipan amounting to $6,000.

Committee chairman Joe Ayuyu Jr., along with subcommittee chairs Monique Sablan, Brad Ruszala, Shayne Villanueva and Valentina Haberman, received the check from Ayuyu’s mother and McDonald’s owner/operator Marcia Ayuyu at McDonald’s Middle Road.

“We will continue to give support to any undertaking that has big impact on the whole community,” Mrs. Ayuyu said, adding that Liberation Day is a very significant event for the people of the CNMI.

In an interview, Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang said McDonald’s has been “very generous” to the community through these years.

“And it’s not just because the committee chair [Joe Ayuyu Jr.] is McDonald’s general manager — they are always providing help to many community programs and activities,” the mayor said.

Apatang said he hopes the generous gesture of McDonald’s will motivate other businesses to also support this year’s Liberation festivities.

Speaking as McDonald’s general manager, Joe Ayuyu Jr. said they are  part of the community and will always support activities and programs that benefit the community especially the youth and the children.

Ayuyu Jr. thanked the other committee members for their volunteer work.
