Filipino group to hold ‘Pistang Pinoy’ in June

THE United Filipino Organization will host “Pistang Pinoy 2018” next month in celebration of the 120th anniversary of the Philippine declaration of independence.

UFO president Marlon Regaton said the event will be held in the Marianas Business Plaza parking area on Sunday, June 10, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

One of the highlights of the festivities is a singing competition for Filipinos  50 and older.

“This segment will provide entertainment to the community as well as give older ‘kababayans’ a chance to show their talents,” Regaton said.

First prize is $300; second, $200; and third, $150.

UFO will collect a registration fee of $20 from each participant, but it will be refunded to those who show up and perform.

The last day for registration is May 28.

This year’s Pistang Pinoy will also feature a group-dance showdown which is open to all ages and dance styles. Each participating group must have at least 10 members. A dancer can only perform with one team.

The refundable registration fee is $30 per group, and the last day for registration is May 25.

Regaton said they will only accept eight registrants.

The June celebration will feature live bands, individual and group performers as well as provide parlor games for children and adults, he added.

Food and other merchandise will also be available.

UFO is still accepting advertisers, donors and sponsors.
