Poetry at Joeten-Kiyu Public Library

(Press Release) — Last month, poet Joe Connolly came to the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library to teach poetry to students from Northern Marianas International School, in honor of National Library Week (April 8-14).

The students enjoyed Connolly’s presentation; his spontaneous “poetry rapping” was especially enjoyed by all! Connolly also talked about sonnets and haikus, and the differences between the two forms of poetry.

At the end of the presentation, Connolly donated a book of haiku to the library, Jumbo Box by Michael Dylan. Mr. Connolly also donated Jumbo Box to the Rota Public Library and the Tinian Public Library. The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library is grateful that Mr. Connolly was able to make his way from Tinian to demonstrate his knowledge of poetry, as well as make a wonderful addition to the library.
