Saipan-Palau Association elects new officers

THE Saipan-Palau Association has elected John Vianny Tutiy as its new president, Palau Consul Eileen Kintol said.

Tutiy succeeds Peroris Besong.

Kintol said the association has been inactive after it failed to elect new officers over the past two years.

This year’s election was held on June 9 at the American Memorial Park pavilion at 11 a.m.

“We had a good turnout, and the event was very successful,” Kintol said.

The other newly elected officers are Ana Mary Yoshida, vice president; Polly Omechaleng, secretary; Timberly Ngawakl, treasurer; and Elsie Skang, assistant treasurer.

Kintol said the election of the new officers is very important to the Palau consulate in the CNMI because there are events sanctioned by the Palau government that need the support of the association.

She said the new officers will meet again this month to  designate the members of various special committees.

The schedule for the oath-taking of the new association officers that will be administered by Palau President Tommy Remengesau himself is now being finalized, Kintol said.
