Senate conducts public hearings for board nominees on Tinian and Rota

THE Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Government Investigations headed by Sen. Frank Cruz conducted public hearings for four board nominees on Tinian and Rota.

The nominees included Vicente King for the Commonwealth Election Commission, and Michaela U. Sanchez for the Northern Marianas College Board of Regents.

The public hearings for their nominations were held on June 11 at the Tinian courthouse.

The committee also held a public hearing for the re-appointment of Elaine Orilla as NMC board member representing Rota and the appointment of Vinny Hocog to the Commonwealth Development Authority board.

The hearings on Orilla and Hocog were held Monday, June 18, at the Rota courthouse in Sinapalo.

Senator Cruz said all the appointees received “overwhelming support” from members of the public who attended the hearings.

The Senate will hold a session next week, Thursday to confirm the nominations.
