Donation drive for long-time guest worker

THE United Filipino Organization is soliciting voluntary monetary donations for the bereaved family of long-time guest worker Jeanette Vistan Capayas.

UFO President Marlon Regaton said Capayas, 48, passed away on Saturday. She was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Originally from Calumpit, Bulacan province, north of Manila, Capayas is survived by her husband Rolly and three children, ages 17, 14, and 13.

Regaton said the Capayas family has been very active in UFO activities.

“Her husband and children are regular performers in our events,” he added.

In an interview, Rolly Capayas said his wife arrived on Saipan in 1998 and worked as a store clerk, a house helper and a caregiver.

Her interment is scheduled for July 21.

Regaton said the fund drive is conducted through the cooperation of UFO’s member organizations and other Filipino community groups.

Donations can be dropped off at  LBC Chalan Laulau and Garapan, Ruustan’s Forex in Chalan Kanoa, RNV Forex Remittance in Garapan, Apex Remittance  in Chalan Kanoa and D’ Elegance Restaurant in Garapan.

“Your cooperation and generosity will be highly appreciated,” Regaton said.

Rolly Capayas said he has already talked with a staff volunteer of Honorary Philippine Consul Glicerio “Eli” Arago regarding his wife’s membership with the Philippine Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.

“I am thankful to all those who have sympathized and consoled us in any way,” Mr. Capayas said. “I also thank all those who have provided financial assistance.”

Regaton said Rolly Capayas will be the sole contact person regarding donations.

As for the nightly rosary, it will be held at the San Antonio Church with the Santo Niño Group.
