AS part of its educational program, the Korean Community of Saipan, in collaboration with the Saipan mayor’s office, will again sponsor a cultural-exchange trip for local students who want to visit South Korea.

Saipan mayor’s office student program coordinator Yuki Kishimoto said the association is looking for 20 high school students from private and public schools on Saipan. They will visit Korea from Oct. 12 to 16.

Each of the participating students will  pay just $500 for the trip.

Kishimoto said  application forms are available on the mayor’s website,, or at the mayor’s office in Susupe.

In an interview, Korean Community of Saipan president Jae Yeol Lim said they started the program in 1997. “We want local students to learn about Korean culture,” he said.

While in Korea, the local students will visit factories including Hyundai’s as well as cultural landmarks and government offices, he added.
