PSS sends team to help clean up Rota schools

THE Public School System sent a team to Rota on Thursday morning to help with the cleanup of  schools there, interim Education Commissioner Glenn Muna said.

“Hopefully we can reopen the schools on Rota next week,” he added.

PSS resumed classes on Saipan and Tinian on Wednesday after Gov. Ralph D.L.G. Torres declared “all clear.”  On Monday, Typhoon Mangkhut passed near Saipan and Tinian and hit Rota. Public schools there remain closed.

Muna said the PSS team sent to Rota brought bottled water, cleaning supplies, tools and materials.

PSS, he added, “is also accepting donations for the Ayuda Luta relief efforts to help our friends, family members, and staff on Rota.  Those wishing to donate non-perishable items, bottled water, mosquito coils, batteries or clothing, please bring them to the Garapan Fishing Base from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15 and 22.”
