From $4.43 a gallon, the price of Synergy Extra or regular gas went up to $4.53 a gallon; the price of Synergy Supreme went up from $4.80 a gallon to $4.90 a gallon; and the price of diesel, which was  $4.81 a gallon, is now  $4.91 a gallon.

Shell Marianas had not raised its prices as of 4 p.m., Tuesday, but it was expected to follow suit.

The last time gas prices went up was five months ago, by 20 cents.

Former Rep. Raymond D. Palacios said in jest that he is “fortunate” that he can’t drive his car because its radiator needs to be fixed.

“But I feel for those who drive their vehicles because although a 10-cent price hike looks small, it will be a big amount to those  who have to drive to work every day and  gas up almost every week,” he added.

He said higher gas prices may also result in an increase in the cost of other commodities or services.

“So it is going to hurt everyone,” he said, but added that he understands that the price of gas and any other commodities is beyond the control of the government.
