Saipan Centennial Lions Club to ‘Run for a Cause’

THE Saipan Centennial Lions Club will hold its first fundraising “Run for a Cause” this Saturday, Oct. 20.

The route starts at the 13 Fishermen Memorial and proceeds to the Beach Road-Quartermaster intersection before heading back to the starting line.

Club president Arceli Lizama said the on-site registration will begin before 6 a.m. The registration fee is $10, but children accompanied by adults can participate for free.

“Everything is now set for the race, and we hope to get support from the community,” she added.

The club will serve refreshments, including water, during the event.

Lizama said the proceeds will be used to fund their various community projects.

“If we collect more we will send additional donations to the typhoon victims on Rota,” she said.

On Oct. 6, Lizama and club officers Ruth Reyes and Nenita Marquez delivered 32 bags of relief goods to Rota.
