Norbert Camacho to plead guilty to attempted second-degree murder

A MAN who shot his wife with a rifle four times, wounding her in the leg in Dec. 2017 will plead guilty to the charge of attempted second-degree murder.

Norbert Blas Camacho previously told police that his wife was “messing  with his head” which was why he shot her four times.

Camacho, through Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig, has “expressed his desire to resolve the case with a non-trial disposition” at a status conference on Thursday before Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan who set the change-of-plea hearing for Nov. 1, 2018.

The government was represented by Assistant Attorney General Teri Tenorio.

 According to the plea agreement, Camacho  will be sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment, with all but 10 years suspended without the possibility of parole or early release.

After serving his sentence, Camacho will be on probation for five years. He is also to stay away from and have no contact with his wife..

Camacho was initially charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, aggravated assault, and disturbing the peace.
