22 medical volunteers to serve at typhoon response clinic in Dandan

COMMONWEALTH Healthcare Corporation Chief Executive Officer Esther Muna welcomed members of Americares and the Massachusetts General Hospital medical staff who arrived on Saipan Tuesday.

CHCC Hospital Emergency Preparedness Director  Warren Villagomez said the 22 volunteers are part of the Disaster Medical Assistance Team or DMAT.

“This is  phase 2 of the medical deployment. They will be here on a 12-day mission,” he said.

The newly arrived medical professionals replaced the first DMAT team members who left this week.

“The new team will continue to give us the resources to operate the southern clinic and augment the other satellite clinic which we opened today in Dandan,” Villagomez said.

On Thursday, CHCC, in cooperation with the  DMAT, opened its second typhoon response clinic in the parking lot of the RJ Commercial Building across from Joeten Dandan.

The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and will run until Nov. 16.

Its services include limited vaccines, triage, first aid, limited pharmacy, urgent care and limited public health services such as family planning.

Patients are asked to bring a form of identification and a list of any medications they are on.

Patients can also bring in their prescription bottles to show the providers.
