MVA, Skymark Airlines sign agreement for direct Japan-Saipan flights

THE Marianas Visitors Authority and Skymark Airlines signed a joint promotional agreement this week for new direct flights between Japan and Saipan.

Gov. Ralph Torres has witnessed the agreement signing. He was supposed to return from the U.S. to Saipan on Nov. 30 but flew to Tokyo with first lady Diann Torres for the signing of the agreement.

The administration said the CNMI and Skymark began negotiating in May 2018, and finalized an agreement that is a product of a shared commitment to bring in new direct flights from Japan to Saipan.

“This partnership is part of Governor Torres’ priority to revitalize the Japan market and reestablish economic and cultural relationships between the people of Japan and the Marianas,” the administration said in a statement.
