Youth Affairs Office to hold holiday fairs

THE Youth Affairs Office will hold a series of holiday fairs at three youth centers on Saipan.

Special Assistant for Youth Affairs Shelane Borja said the holiday fairs will be similar to the family fun night her office hosts every year.

The holiday fairs will take place  from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, at Kagman Community Center; Thursday, Dec. 20, at Koblerville Youth Center; and on Saturday, Dec. 22 at Chalan Kanoa Youth Center.

“The purpose of the holiday fairs is to bring the Christmas spirit and good tidings to our youth and their families, especially those who have lost their major items and homes to the typhoon,” Borja said.

In the past, the Youth Affairs Office also hosted a New Year’s concert. “But this year, the holiday fairs will celebrate both Christmas and New Year,” Borja added.

There will be live entertainment by local performers including Uprooted CNMI, as well as games and family amusement and raffle prizes.

The holiday fairs will also feature exhibits of educational and health activities and vendors.

“This will be a family fun night,” Borja said. “Everyone is welcome to join the holiday fairs,” she said.  “The first 150 youths who will show up will get a gift.”
