Saipan Community School’s ukulele players bring Christmas cheer to Susupe

SAIPAN Community School students on Thursday played Christmas carols at Susupe establishments.

School principal Amanda Dunn said 43 ukelele players held a “mini-concert” at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library before proceeding to Joeten Susupe where they entertained the shoppers with their music.

“We have gone around the Susupe area. We played at Kanoa Resort, World Resort and at the office of U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan,” Dunn said.

“We want to showcase what the students have been working on, and we want to bring Christmas cheer to the community,” she added.

In the past, she said they played at the manamko’ center to entertain the elderly.

Dunn said this year, students could not play at the aging center because it was used as a typhoon shelter.

“It was unfortunate that we were not able to be there, but we are very happy to play here at the library and it is a good excuse for the kids to be in the library. Hopefully, they can come back here on their own,” Dunn said.
