Saipan Rotarians observe Vocational Service Month

ROTARY Club of Saipan president Greg Borja said January is their Vocational Service Month so they will invite guest speakers to discuss vocational services on island.

Borja said  through the vocational service program, Rotarians use their skills to address community needs. They also empower others through training and skill development, he added.

Borja said the club’s vocational services include connecting  professional networks with club activities, helping others discover new vocational opportunities and interest, and promoting integrity in one’s professional and personal lives.

He said Rotarians have a dual responsibility to the community: to represent their vocation within their club, and to exemplify the ideals of Rotary in the workplace.

Among the Rotary’s vocational service projects include hosting business networking activities with other professional groups; offering career counseling for unemployed or underemployed adults; and giving career guidance to young people.

Borja also encourages his fellow Rotarians to join the Rotary Fellowship, an international group of Rotarians who pursue shared vocational or recreational interests.

Borja said Rotarians on Saipan can also join Rotarian action groups which plan and implement projects in a particular area of service around the world.

The Rotary Club of Saipan’s annual fundraising event, “Las Vegas Night,” will be held on Saturday, March 23, and not Feb. 23 as earlier reported.
