“He is doing his job,” the bishop said, “and I have great respect for him.”

Bishop Jimenez said he himself emphasizes at church service that “all of us are created in God’s image and likeness so whatever your sexual orientation is you are loved by God — we are all loved by God.”

The bishop added that Apatang  has been very helpful to the church and the community.

He said the mayor’s office and its personnel are very dedicated, especially in the ongoing typhoon recovery program.

“I would say that we have a really good collaboration with the mayor’s office,” the bishop added. “I wish him well and I pray for his good health.”

Bishop Jimenez said he also appreciates the mayor’s programs that help ensure the safety of the community and provide assistance to students.

“We in the church also encourage our youth to get an education and to be more involved in the community — to have that desire and  heart for service.”
