One of the island’s well-known private lawyers, Banes 55, was cited by a police officer for recklessly driving a red Toyota on Dandan Road at about 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2018.

According to 6 CMC § 7104, reckless driving is a misdemeanor traffic offense punishable by a fine of $1,000 or six months imprisonment or both.

At the initial hearing before Presiding Judge Roberto Narja on Oct. 4, 2018, Banes appeared pro se or for himself and waived the reading of the charge. He pled not guilty.

Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Robert Glass Jr. represented the government.
