Among them were Gov. Ralph Torres, first lady Diann Torres, lawmakers, executive and judicial branch officials.

Dela Cruz’s older brother, the CNMI’s first chief justice, Jose S. Dela Cruz, delivered the eulogy.

He said he was not surprised to see that a lot of people were mourning his brother’s death, adding that the late Rep. Frank Dela Cruz had touched so many lives one way or another.

His colleagues described him as a “very remarkable public servant —

 humble, honest and compassionate.”

One of his close friends, Rep. Jose Itibus, thanked everyone for their presence and for extending their sympathies to the Dela Cruz family during these difficult times.

Frank Dela Cruz served in the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 20th Legislatures. In November, he was re-elected, but he passed away on Tinian on Jan. 6, 2019, or eight days before the inauguration of the 21st Legislature. He was 56.

On Tuesday, the Legislature will hold a memorial tribute in his honor starting at 10 a.m.

He is survived by his wife Lisa and their children Divana, Dana Deveney and Damien.
