GCA artists dominate Saipan Toyota Dream Car Art Contest

(GCA) — Five out of nine winners of the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest announced by Atkins Kroll Toyota Saipan last March 9, 2019 are from Grace Christian Academy. GCA artists also won the top 3 places in each of the 3 age categories.

One of the top 19 international art contests, Toyota Dream Car Contest invites all children around the globe to share their ideas about future of mobility by drawing their dream car.

GCA art contest winners shared their creativity and ideas about the future of transportation and awesome dreams.

GCA First Grader En Mei Huang, who won gold award in age 7 and under category said that her dream car is very big and sturdy. It has a special camera that can take pictures outside if there is typhoon like Super Typhoon Yutu.

Winning gold, silver, and bronze awards, GCA Fourth Graders sweep all the top 3 winners of age 8-11 category. Ashley Han’s gold award dream car has an excellent design that it can go under water without the use of gasoline. She said, “It can help in cleaning under the ocean.”

Justin Ma’s Silver award winning dream car can also go under water. He said, “It has a light than can communicate with sea animals. It also contains a suit that people can use.”

Ashley Hans’ twin brother, Alvin Hans, bronze award dream car can fly up in the sky. Powered by electricity, he said, “It can help in cleaning the air.”

Age 12-15 age category gold awardee Akira Ota, GCA 7th grader said his dream car was inspired by Elon Musk, the lead designer of SpaceX. He said, “I want to build a cheaper rocket, so why not make a car that can withstand the atmosphere like a rocket. A cheaper rocket.”

All GCA three gold awardees’ art work will be submitted to the World Contest that will be held in Japan. In the World Contest, these entries selected from each country and region will be judged by a jury panel, where award winners will be selected in order of the gold, silver, and bronze award, along with finalists.

One winner with his or her parents or guardians will be selected from the Guam and Saipan winners to be included in the 30 World Contest winners to travel to Japan for 4 days in August 2019. The winners can expect many wonderful surprises including a special meeting with Toyota President Akio Toyoda.

GCA K-5th grade Art teacher Mrs. Esther Manzano, the winner’s parents, administration, teachers, and students of GCA are very happy for these artists’ accomplishments.
