Japanese society to help promote NMI in Japan

WITH the arrival of more Japanese tourists, thanks to Skymark Airlines, the Japanese Society of the Northern Marianas is willing to help promote the CNMI in Japan.

Japan society chairman Masato Tezuka said there’s a need to cater to the needs of millennial tourists who now comprise the bulk of visitors from Japan.

“Members of the young generation have different expectations,” he said.

But the CNMI and Saipan in particular have still lots of things to offer to Japanese tourists, he added.

Unlike Hawaii, he said Saipan does not have a lot of luxury hotels or shopping centers, but the island is still known for its beaches and “beautiful nature.”

Tezuka said the historical ties between the Northern Marianas and Japan should also be highlighted when promoting the islands in Japan.

He said they are excited about the new charter flight service of Skymark Airlines, and are looking forward to its regular flights.

“We would like to show our full support to Skymark and we hope they would have a long engagement in the CNMI,” he added.

He said Skymark’s flight service will surely increase the number of Japanese tourists visiting the CNMI.
