DPS responds to report of dead person in Kagman

(Department of Public Safety) — On Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 6:20 p.m., CNMI DPS Central received a 911 call reporting a possible dead person at a residence in Kagman. DPS officers were dispatched to the scene.

At the residence, DPS officers noticed a foul odor coming from the residence. Upon entering the residence officers noticed an individual lying on the floor. The individual was in the stage of decomposition.

Officers on scene requested the assistance of DPS crime scene technicians and detectives through the DPS Central Dispatch Office.

At 7:36 p.m., DPS crime scene technicians and detectives arrived on scene where the proper procedures of gathering evidence from the scene were performed.

At 8:59 p.m., the individual was transported to the Commonwealth Health Center. At 9:17 p.m., DPS Personnel arrived at the morgue with the deceased. Dr. Nicholas Villalon observed the individual and gave the time of death to be 9:20 p.m., caused by cardiac arrest.

The identity of the deceased and other information are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

DPS would like to remind the public to not touch, tamper, or relocate items within or around a scene, and call 911 immediately, as dispatchers are standing by. If you feel that you are in danger at the site, remove yourself from the scene and then call 911.
