Information sought in robberies

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — The Guam Police Department is asking the community’s help as they search for the perpetrators of two robberies — one in Tamuning and the other in Barrigada — early Sunday.

Around 3 a.m. Sunday, a man was walking to work along Chalan San Antonio in Tamuning. When he was near the Baltej Pavilion, he saw a silver Honda driving in his direction, a GPD news release stated.

The operator of the Honda turned on the vehicle’s high beam, police said. An unknown man exited from the passenger side brandishing a handgun and demanding money.

The victim immediately complied and was instructed to walk away.

The suspect was described to be possibly local with a skinny build wearing a red shirt, a fitted cap with a rag covering his face and khaki cargo shorts with long socks.

The second robbery took place around 5 a.m. Sunday at the Shell Gas Station by the tri-intersection of routes 8, 10 and 16 in Barrigada.

A man walked into the store brandishing a handgun and demanding money. Fearful for their safety, store employees fled the store, leaving the suspect alone in the store. The armed suspect later fled in an unknown direction with an unknown amount of cash.

The male suspect is described as possibly local with a slim build and dark complexion, wearing a brown hooded sweater and beige pants.

GPD is asking anyone in the community who may have information on these cases to call 671-472-8911 or 671-475-8615-7.

Information also can be submitted anonymously through the Guam Crime Stoppers 24-hour hotline at 671-477-HELP or online at guam.crimestoppersweb.com. All calls will remain completely confidential and a cash reward of up to $1,000 may be paid if the Information provided leads to an arrest and a grand jury indictment.
