McDonald’s hosts Easter egg-hunt for children

ABOUT 200 children participated in McDonald’s egg-hunt event at its Middle Road branch on Saturday.

Mable Ayuyu-Glenn, executive assistant to the president for McDonald’s of Saipan and Guam, said it was the second time they hosted such an event. The first was in 2017.

The egg-hunt started at 9 a.m. Registration was free and all children who participated each received a gift card from McDonald’s.

“Usually, when we have anniversaries and promotions, they are geared toward adults and millennials. This time we wanted to do something specifically for the kids,” Ayuyu-Glenn said.

In 2017, she said more than 200 children, three to nine years old, participated. For this year’s event, she added, the participant were children from three to five years old.

“We had the best turnout within that age bracket. It also more manageable for us, given that we have limited premises — we wanted to make sure that it is safe for our kids,” Ayuyu-Glenn said.

Aside from egg-hunting, McDonald’s also held a “Most Creative Ester Basket” contest this year.

“This is to showcase some of the creative talents of our kids,” Ayuyu-Glenn said.

Louie Matthew Achas, 5, won the “Most Creative Easter Basket” contest.

The competition judges — James Nelson, of Power 99, and Norman del Rosario, of IT&E — said they were impressed by Achas’ creativity.

The basket was made of cut-out plastic bottles.

“It shows creativity and is environment-friendly. Recycling is vital in our time,” the judges said.

In the egg-hunt, Rodney Pinaula Jr. got the golden egg; Max Chan found the silver egg; and Iyanna Diaz Agulto collected the most eggs, 48.
