Greg P. Cruz is CUC’s chief financial officer

THE Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has a new chief financial officer, one of the stipulated positions that have been vacant since October last year.

Greg P. Cruz, who served as chief financial officer of the Guam Waterworks Authority for 11 years, officially reported for work at CUC on Monday.

He replaces Antonio Castro whose two-year contract was not renewed by CUC’s management.

On Wednesday, CUC Executive Director Gary Camacho presented Cruz to the CUC board headed by chairwoman Miranda Manglona.

“Mr. Cruz brings with him a wealth of experience having spent numerous years in the area of financial management,” Camacho told the board.

In an interview, Camacho said Cruz has “vast experience in a very specialized industry.”

He said CUC’s accounting and finance sections will learn a lot from Cruz.

There were 10 applicants for the position and all were vetted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Camacho said CUC is still advertising for the position of chief engineer for water and wastewater division which is another stipulated order position.

It was previously held by Song Kin but has been vacant since Oct. 2, 2018.

Based on the federal stipulated order, CUC has 150 days to fill the positions of the CFO and the chief engineer for water and wastewater.
