CHCC Outpatient Pharmacy offers flu vaccine

TO address the increasing number of influenza cases in the CNMI, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.’s Outpatient Pharmacy is offering flu shots to individuals at a minimal charge.

CHCC has issued a community advisory about the increasing influenza cases on the islands, particularly among young children and people who have not received flu vaccinations.

CHCC Chief Executive Officer Esther Muna said the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has noted the flu outbreak in every region, adding that it has been the longest flu season in history.

She said CHCC’s Immunization Program has been conducting immunization outreach in the community, including public and private schools.

“Our pharmacy can give you a flu shot, if you don’t want to go see a doctor,” Muna said.

She added that the flu vaccine is free and administering it will cost $3 only.

“We want to make sure people have access to the flu vaccine, especially with what is happening now. People can just walk into our pharmacy and have their flu shot,” Muna said.
