Governor attends regional bank conference in Marshalls

GOVERNOR Ralph DLG Torres flew to Majuro, the Marshall Islands on May 16 to attend a Pacific Islands Development Bank conference.

According to Press Secretary Kevin Bautista, “Governor Torres is currently fulfilling his duties as the elected chairman of the Pacific Islands Development Bank in Majuro in a shareholders meeting with the governments of Kosrae and the Republic of the Marshall Islands…. The PIDB is an important financial institution for the Pacific region, dedicated to the viability of island businesses and the promotion of regional partnerships on economic and social development. He returns on Friday after a week of meetings with Pacific chief executives and partners.” The trip is funded by the PIDB.

The bank’s members are the governments of the CNMI, the Marshall Islands, Palau, Guam, and the FSM states of Chuuk, Kosrae, Pohnpei, and Yap.
